Minowewebinese (Good sounding bird, thunderbird) Eric Albert Landry

Son of Gilberte Paquette (Landry) and Anthony Landry. Brother to Gisele (Raymond) Demers, Contance "Connie" (Tom) Conrad, Jean-Guy (Diane) Landry, Gaston Landry pre-deceased of Edmonton, Susanne (Lino) Di Rocco of Calgary, Eugene Landry, and Julian Landry. Father to Nitanis "Kit" Largo (Landry) (Marced), Sheri "Shkebe'' Gowan (Landry) (Trevor), Heather Sawdon. Grandfather to Matthew Sawdon, Jamie Sawdon (Brooks), Gracie Mandamin, Hailey Gowan, Alicia Elliott, Adalia Largo, Dakota Largo and Kimeya Largo. Special uncle to Jason and Adrian Abel, Michelle Elliott (Mikey), AJ Elliott, Megan Elliott, Kingsley, Kalena and Huxley Paquette, Simon Landry, and Jessie Elliott.

In his younger years he spent time in Yellowknife (1969), Toronto (1974), Ottawa, and Manitoulin Island. He studied at Cambrian College in the Music program and was approached to study in Europe, and around 1977 he attended Laurentian University in the Native Studies program. He has performed in many jazz clubs, coffee houses, music festivals, music houses and jam sessions. He spoke highly of his lifetime mentors Peter O'Chiese-baa, Art Solomon-baa, and Anne Wilson-baa. He cherished his friendships with Willie Dunn,Roy Johnson, Kevin Howes, Steven Bates, Marg Yahnee and Pete Thomas. He was honored to be a part of the recording Native North America which gained recognition when it was nominated for a Grammy in 2015 for best historical album. He valued his work with the Newberry House in the 80's, and he also sat on the Board of Directors at the Native Friendship Center for a time. He developed and implemented an outdoor survival camp for native youth. Minowewebinese (Eric-baa) was an astounding and talented musician and composer weaving instrumentals with his acoustic guitar. He walked gently on this earth and has touched many with his musical talents and kind spirit.

Complex on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 10am. Cremation to follow ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice or the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
