The family of Sylvain Lavoie is sad to announce his sudden passing on Saturday, October 28th in Sudbury at the age of 59 years.

Born August 10th, 1964 in La Sarre Québec, Sylvain was the last of a loving family of 12 siblings.  He spent his early years in Normétal Québec before moving to Timmins for work in various mines before finding a new home in Sudbury where he continued working as a miner.  In every city that he lived in Sylvain made friends, many he would call family.  An avid Harley Davidson fan, he spent many hours riding on his bike enjoying the open roads alone or with other riders.  Sylvain was adamant that he would ride nothing else but a Harley and made sure everyone would hear him coming by adding straight pipes to his bikes.

He was proud of his bikes or as he would call them his “babies” and ensured his vehicles were polished and shiny.  He would often be seen at the car wash or with a rag polishing the chrome on his vehicles until it was perfect, sometimes asking a niece or a nephew to wash them in exchange for a new fifty-dollar bill.  To know Sylvain meant you always had a friend who would gladly lend a hand whenever he was needed.  He likely showed up with a Tim’s coffee in hand, making a pit stop there whenever he was driving.

Generous to a fault, he would give those around him his time, energy or whatever was needed.  Though Sylvain lived away from his siblings, he would keep in touch with them regularly.  He will be greatly missed by his siblings Lisette (late Anselme Gagnon), late Colombe (late Marcel Boutin), late Jean Claude (Céline Pilote), Louiselle (late Donald Kelly), late Gaétane (late Edmon Pilote), Ginette (Jean Bergeron), Carole, Réal (Monique Bradette), Line (Jean-Guy Mailloux), Michel (Carole Plante) and late Sylvie (late Daniel Boiclair).  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and numerous friends and extended family.

As per his wishes, there will be no funeral or celebration of life and his final resting place will be with his loving parents in the Normétal, Québec Cemetery.

The Lavoie family ask that donations in memory of Sylvain be made to the Canadian mental health association.  www.cmha.ca
