It is with great sadness, sorrow & heartbreak that we announce the passing of Denis Leclair (65) on Thursday December 21st, 2023 after a lengthy battle with COPD with his family by his side.

Denis is survived by his wife of 32 years Nancy Leclair, his children Cary-Ann Currie, Chad Currie, his grandchildren Ethan Currie, Austin Currie and his siblings Claude Leclair (Mary-Ann), Albert Leclair (friend Val), Paul Leclair (Debby), Carmen Dillion (Michael) and Joanne Leclair. Denis is predeceased by his daughter Christina Currie, his brother Leo Leclair (Ginete), and his parents Gaetane & Joe Leclair. Denis will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Denis started his life as a boy who loved getting into mischief, then later on found his way to music. It all started when he learned to play his first instrument, the music then quickly became a big part of his life. From being a drummer for country music star Michelle Wright to playing in a band with some family members for local events, local bars, or social gatherings, you could quickly see Denis’s love for playing music grew more and more the more he played. Denis never read sheet music or followed it at all. He learned everything by ear. He would listen to a piece and follow along by playing it till he got it right. He was very proud of having that ability and talent. Denis was an outstanding fiddle player, guitarist and drummer. Anytime he went anywhere he was always expected to bring his fiddle, everyone always wanted hear him play.

The second biggest part of Denis where he spent 37 years of his life was Telstar Hydraulics. Denis is widely known as “Mr. Telstar”. He loved his career and was greatly dedicated to it until August when Denis retired.

In Denis’s off-time he really enjoyed going to camp and had a great love for fishing where he spent many, many hours on the water. The greatest laugh we all have from fishing with him is that anything that bit our fishing lines just had to be a “pickerel” even if it was just a baby perch.

Although his life was cut short by COPD, his memory will live on through all that knew him. Denis will be missed dearly by everyone but most of all by his wife and children. Rest easy in paradise “Dad”.

As per Denis’s wishes there will be no funeral or celebration of life. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
