Raymond Joseph Laurence Leduc was born May 29,1938 and passed away in the small hours of February 16, 2024, at peace with God and the world. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Claudette (Beland) and their children Lise Lynds (Randy), Gilles (Sherry), Ginette Prest (Bill) and Monique Staropoli (Leon). He will be deeply mourned and missed by his grandchildren Tyson (Chloe), Jessica (Max), Mariah (James), Isabelle (Patrick), Arielle (Cory), Melissa (Eric), Carter (Carine), Matthieu, Alyssa and Christiano as well as his six great grandchildren. Ray was the eldest of 21 children born to Paul and Rose (Larocque) Leduc (both predeceased). The Leduc clan was raised in Ottawa, Ontario and Ray became its beloved and respected patriarch. He will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters. Ray lived an amazing life. He excelled in all he undertook. He rose to the higher management ranks of Prudential Life Insurance due to his excellent leadership and management capabilities. His 31 years of service and achievements are legendary. Ray was a member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus, and Sudbury Club Richelieu and served on the board of directors for Sudbury Regional Hospital. He was an exceptional athlete, excelling in squash, golf, broom ball, pool and snooker and loved fishing and hunting. He also loved racing cars and his many trophies attest to his skill, expertise, and adrenaline addiction. Ray was an accomplished sailor and explored Lake Huron, Georgian Bay, and The North Channel with his family for many summers. He and Claudette talked often of their 14-month adventure sailing the Caribbean. In his later years, he spent his time playing games and cards with his family and friends and no one will soon forget his family spaghetti dinners. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with all his heart. Raymond will be remembered by many for his generosity and willingness to help those in need. “A life well lived” is an understatement for Raymond Leduc. He loved well, played hard and achieved much in his time with us. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of great memories for many. He will be missed beyond words. The family invites friends to visit at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 4-6pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Redeemer Church, 1887 Bancroft Dr., Sudbury on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11am followed by a fellowship time of life celebration and remembrance.
