It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert Lorenz at the age of 65. He passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North the morning of November 5, 2022. Loving father to Jessica (Jamie), who was his pride and joy. Robert had decades long battle with kidney disease. He was first diagnosed at the age of 20 and began dialysis upon awaiting a donor. He received a transplant that lasted 13 years. Since then he was receiving dialysis 3 times a week. He called the dialysis nurses his second family. Robert had to take early retirement as an engineer from the school board, due to his kidney disease. Robert always talked about the love and passion he had for his career. Robert had a love for wanting to help people and became a member at the Moose Lodge, where he had a passion to develop policies and attempt to receive more members. Roberts' love for helping he made moodles the moose and developed bookmarks for internet safety that he would personally handout to children and youth. Robert was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan and would listen to every game. He would love having friendly banter with his daughter Jessica who is a Montreal Canadians fan. Although Robert was legally blind and in a wheelchair that never stopped him from going places. Robert enjoyed collecting coins. Although Robert's health may not have always been the greatest he always remained positive, with a positive outlook on life and attitude, a good sense of humour along with being a jokester. One of his favorite things in life was his daughter, talking to her on the phone, meeting her, going out for dinners with her, he will be greatly missed by her. There will be no service at his request. A Thank you goes out to Health Sciences North Emergency Department physicians and nurses. As well as all the staff on the Nephrology floor. His PSW’s through March of Dimes, and Govaplus drivers. Donations can be made to the Nephrology Unit at Health Sciences North, Kidney Foundation, or the Moose Lodge.
