LUHTA, Gordon Robert - In loving memory of Gordon Robert Luhta 64 years who passed away Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 at his residence. Beloved husband of Doreen (Derry) Luhta. Loving father of Steve, Jason (Leah-Ann) and Shanna (Jeff Giusti). Cherished Papa of Chelsea, Cailey, Preston, Brayan and Ryleah. Dear son of William and Mirian Luhta predeceased. Dear brother of Norma (Lawrence Goodmurphy) both predeceased, William (Bonnie), Jack (Roselee), Martin (Margaret) both predeceased and Lorna (Ben Lawrence). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. A longtime and well known Onaping Falls resident, Gord was an electrical technologist at Falconbridge Ltd. retiring in 1997 with 31 years of service. He had been a volunteer Fire Chief at Falconbridge for the mine. A proud Canadian he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #503 Onaping Falls having served as branch president. He was a member of the Algonquin Lodge AF and AM #536. He was an avid curler and golfer. In his younger years he was an accomplished baseball player. He enjoyed moose hunting with family and friends. Gord was proud of his loving children and grandchildren. He had a “sisu“ that gave him well being and confidence. Funeral Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 at 11:30 am. Cremation with interment in the Maplecrest Cemetery, Dowling. A Masonic service will be held at 7PM Wednesday under the auspices of the Algonquin Lodge AF and AM #536. A legion service will be held at 7:30 PM Wednesday under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #503, Onaping Falls. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated (friends may call 2-5; 7-9PM Wednesday and after 10:30AM Thursday).
