LUHTASAARI, Rauha Maria (nee Kaikkonen) - In Loving Memory of Rauha Maria Luhtasaari (nee Kaikkonen), 92 years, Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury. Beloved wife of Olavi “Ollie“ Johannes Luhtasaari predeceased 2011. Loving mother of Risto (wife Shirley) of Cartier, Jorma (wife Fran deceased) (partner Joanne) and Jussi both of Chapleau, Maija (husband Armand Dumont) of Cartier, Leena (husband Ed Boisclair) of Orillia and Matti of Levack. Proud Mummu of Pekka, Jane, Wesley, Matthew, Andrea, Jorma Jr., Kari and Big Mummu of Mikka, Braeden, Amalia, Mallory and Chloe. Predeceased by her mother Anna Sofia (Kaikkonen), her grandparents Juhana and Maria Kaikkonen and by her sister Anna (Holopainen) Moilanen. Will be sadly missed by her friends Pekka and Emily Laitinen of Sault-Ste-Marie. Rauha was born in Kakisalmi, Finland. She married Ollie in Finland in 1946 and together they came to Canada in 1951 and worked for Kormak Lumber for 4 years. She then became a full time homemaker to raise her children. An avid gardener, she loved to pick blueberries in the summer. An excellent cook, she enjoyed sharing her culinary expertise with family and friends. Known as “Mom“ to many, Rauha enjoyed time with her family of whom she was very proud of. She loved all animals especially her dogs “her fur babies“ Karhu and Zeb. Rauha leaves a rich legacy of love and devotion and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family will honour her request of no visitation and no funeral. Cremation at Park Lawn Crematorium, Sudbury. Donations in memory of Rauha to the Sudbury Food Bank would be appreciated.
