Charles (Charlie) Gediminas Lumbis - 1952-2022 (69 years)

The family is saddened to announce the death of Charlie Lumbis, after a brief battle with ALS.

Charles was the son of Gertrude & Vytautas (Peter) Lumbis, predeceased, and younger brother to Victor, predeceased.

He was a loving partner to Linda Lachance, a wonderful father to Hope (Steve Preussner), and doting grandfather to Mayson.  Former husband of Annette.

Charlie worked as an exploration geologist in northern Ontario, working at remote bush camp sites as diverse as Baffin Island, and Daniel’s Harbour, Newfoundland and at Lac Minerals head office in Toronto.  He was known as an ardent fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman.  He was considered a fishing expert on Lake Wahnapitae and Trout Lake and was sought out for advice on where and how to catch the big ones.  He and Linda built their dream home on Trout Lake, their favourite place where they met.  His family had a camp there since he was six years old.

Notorious for his love of speed, he was a motorcyclist since he was 16, terrorizing people on Cherriman Road, and spent time touring around United States with the Venture Riders.  He also loved fast boats and was always after the elusive 100 mph with his hydrostream AE21.  He was a connoisseur of good beer, so when you think of Charlie, raise a glass for him.

His wonderful eye for photography, and sense of humour will be missed by those who he shared his posts with on Facebook.  He never missed a beautiful sunset.  He’s gone fishing now, looking for the next big one.
