MALIK, Jan 'Tarzan' - In Loving Memory of Jan 'Tarzan' Malik, 89 years Peacefully Thursday, March 22nd, 2012 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Czeslawa (Herka) Malik predeceased 2000. Loving father of Ben (Rhea), John (Lorraine), Sabina (Darren), Mary (Gary Fitzpatrick), Joanne (Peter Watson) and Elizabeth (Gerry Paradis). Cherished Grandpa of Ben Jr, Stephanie (Armand), Michael, Ronny, Shelly (Ronnie), Jan, John Jr., Cory, Ashley, Brock, Stacey, Dylan, and great grandchildren Kassandra, Katrina, Vanessa, Joshua, Emeric, Sierra, Karly, Kaylee, Keshia, Czech. Born in Tarnow, Poland, Jan married Czeslawa (nee Herka) in 1945 in Germany. An accomplished soccer player, he played professionally in Europe and he was a perennial all-star in Sudbury during the fifties, being MVP in 1956 and 1957. He worked at INCO for 32 years, retiring in 1982. In younger years he was active in the local Polish communities. He enjoyed fishing and picking mushrooms. He was a regular at the Croatian Center where he worked out and socialized with his friends. He will be remembered as a good friend to many and devoted to his loving family and he will be missed by his canine friend Shadow. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury Funeral Mass in St. Casimir's Church 210 Paris St., Sudbury Monday, March 26th, 2012 at 10 am Cremation with interment in the Civic Cemetery. Parish prayers 7:30 pm Sunday. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-9 pm Sunday).
