It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Jean-Claude “JC” Marcotte. After a brief battle with cancer, JC left this life on Thursday, February 29th, 2024, in the care of the amazing staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice.

JC was the most beloved partner of Donna McKinnon for 4,121 days and her beloved husband for 97 of those precious days.

Dear stepfather of Brianne Bampton (Evan), of Halifax, and Kevin Cyr (Stephanie), of Sudbury; and special Grampa JC to Declan Bampton.

JC will be sadly missed by his best buddy, Brent Holmberg, and by long time friend Michel Gagnon, as well as the many other friends he cherished in our lives.

JC will be very much missed by Donna's family. He was the dear son-in-law of Aileen McKinnon, and loving brother-in-law to Roy Douglas McKinnon (Oscar) , John MacKinnon (Sue predeceased), James MacKinnon (Donna Two) and Marilyn MacKinnon (Don Laberge).

His loss is already sensed by our Siamese cats - Nakina and Marlot, and Biff the big ginger cat.

Born in Sudbury, JC was the youngest son of Alphonse and Diane Marcotte both predeceased; and cherished youngest brother of Andre (Patricia) of Edmonton; Gerry (Chris predeceased) and Gaston (Denise) of Greater Sudbury.

JC was a highly skilled Machinist and Tool and Die Maker. He received his Red Seal while working at Pratt & Whiney/United Technologies. JC was proud to have worked in the Aerospace Industry and in particular, on the building of the Canadarm. After leaving Toronto in the late 80s, JC owned his own precision machine shop in Sudbury for several years before moving on to contracting.

After watching the classic movie "Easy Rider" multiple times as a teenager, JC bought his first bike at age 16. This was the prelude to his life long love of the road.

JC was happiest on his Harley, especially with Donna on the back. His face would light up with joy when he fired up that bike.

Over the course of 11 riding seasons, from the east coast of Canada, to Going-to-the Sun Mountain in Montana - and all places in between, JC and Donna rode over 240,000 kilometers together, making magical memories while enjoying the freedom of the open road.

Donna would like to express extreme thanks and love to her friends Kim and Heather for their on-going support throughout the journey at the hospice, and for being there when he passed.

We would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Maison McCulloch Hospice for their kindness and compassion during our stay. We are blessed to have had the opportunity to use this wonderful service.

We would also like to say a special thank you to Erika, from Bayshore Home Health, for her care and friendship during this difficult journey.

As per JC’s wishes, there will be no service. Donations in JC’s memory may be made to The Maison McCulloch Hospice or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home. For donations or messages of condolence www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.

You are on a new journey now, JC. Ride On.
