MARTTALA, Sirkka-Liisa (nee Haipus) - In Loving memory of Sirkka-Liisa Marttala (nee Haipus), 87 years, Easter Sunday morning, April 8th, 2012 at St Joseph's Villa, Sudbury. Beloved wife of Paavo Jakko Marttala predeceased 1972. Loving mother of Anja (husband Roy Bucknell) of Naughton. Will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Roy Jr. (Tammy) and Liisa (husband Wayne Cormier) both of Sudbury. Special great mumma to Danielle Bucknell. Predeceased by her parents Juho and Anna (nee Niemela) Haipus. Dear sister of Anna Mannikko and Aino Rautio both of Finland and predeceased by Hilja Kauppila, Salli Lappalainen, Kalle, Pauli, Vilho and Lauri Haipus, Eevi Saarinen and Rauha Tervola. Forever in the hearts of many nieces and nephews and special niece Kaisa Leinonen of Kiiminki, Finland. Sirkka was born in Kiiminki and came to Canada with Paavo and Anja in 1951 settling in Waters township. She was a proud Finnish War Veteran having served during World War Two. She was a past member of Ompeluseura and St Timothy's Church Choir. Her favourite pastimes were knitting and tending to her flowers in her flower bed at home and later her balcony was covered in flowers. She will be remembered for her good cooking and her fantastic sense of humour. A devoted wife and mother, her family was her priority and she was especially proud of her great granddaughter Danielle. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St. Sudbury, Thursday April 12th, 2012 at 11:30 am.
