MATHEW, Elda

January 21, 2013 90

MATHEW, Elda Florence (nee Wilson) - April 30, 1923 - January 11, 2013 - With family at her side, Elda passed away peacefully at home in Brantford. Beloved wife of Theobald “Theo“ Bender Mathew, (predeceased 2005). Loving mother of Wade (Judy) of Porcupine, Judy (Dario) of Brantford, Teddy (Bev) of Capreol, and Kim (Wade) of Edmonton. Gramma to Melanie (predeceased 1984), Spencer (Jennifer), Emily (Keith), Julia, James, Ashley, Matthew, Kari (Clayton), Corey, Justin and Dayna. Great-gramma to Summer and Carter and Hayden-James. Loving daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Viola Wilson. Predeceased by sisters Laura Todd, Linda Baptist, Arminta (Amy) Vallee and brothers Tevis and Thomas. Loving sister of Spencer (Edith) of Massey, Joseph of Elliot Lake, Robert (Betty) of Massey, Brent (Judy) of Elliot Lake, Brenda (Bill, predeceased) Hobbs of Sudbury, sister-in-law to Janet (Thomas) Wilson of Sudbury and Gwendolyn (Mathew) Charette of Sudbury. Special aunt to Earl Vallee of Massey and mother-in-law to Robert Orrock (predeceased) of Sudbury. Elda suffered with arthritis and in recent years with 'lewy body' dementia but as was her way, she took her burdens with quiet endurance to the end. Grandchildren and great - grandchildren were her source of pride and joy; she left her mark with each of them. Although small in stature and quiet by nature, her love for her family spoke large and loud to those who knew her. Never one to force her way or be outspoken, she will be remembered for the standards and examples she leaves behind. Cremation has occurred as was her wish and later in the spring, she will be interred next to her husband of more than 50 years at the Grandview Cemetery in Massey. Arrangements entrusted to the HILL & ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 30 Nelson Street, Brantford Ontario, 519-752-2543. At the request of family, donations can be made to either the Arthritis Society or Alzheimer Society of Brant on her behalf. Online condolences and tributes will be available at www.hillandrobinson.comJohn 4:10, “Jesus answered her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, Give me a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.“ Psalm 46:10“Be still and know that I am Lord.“
