In Loving Memory of Helen Mary McDonald (nee Cotnam), 83 years, Thursday morning, April 29th, 2010 at Sudbury Regional Hospital-TCU Memorial Site. Beloved wife of Milas J. McDonald predeceased 1970. Loving mother of Sharon McDonald, Valerie McDonald and Timothy McDonald (wife Angie) all of Markstay. Proud grandmother of Nathan, Curtis and Nikki and great grandaughter Hailey. Predeceased by grandson Ryan McDonald (2002) , by her parents William and Mary (nee Bulger) Cotnam and by her brothers and sisters Anne Fleming, Evelyn Prieur, Claire Bergeron, Jack and Gerald. Dear sister-in-law of Veulah Cotnam of Iroquois Falls and Eva Cotnam predeceased. Sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Helen was born in Pembroke, Ontario. She married Milas J. McDonald in Markstay in 1950. Educated at St Mary’s Academy in Haileybury and at North Bay Teacher’s College, she went on to teach at both Markstay Separate and Public School Boards for over 22 years retiring in 1982 as school principal. Always active within the community Helen worked for over 12 years as secretary for the Markstay Arena and was part of the recreation board, the Markstay Catholic Women’s League , a member of the retired teacher’s association and was a past member of the Markstay Women’s Institute. Her family was her highest priority and she was proud of them. She leaves a rich legacy of love, faith and devotion and will be sadly missed and never forgotten. resting at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Sudbury. Funeral Mass in St Marc’s Church, Markstay Monday, May 3rd 2010 at 11:00 am. Cremation at Park Lawn Crematorium, Sudbury.
