McFARLANE, Ivan - In loving memory of Ivan A. McFarlane 87 Years Thursday, May 26th, 2011 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital. Beloved husband of Beatrice (Watters) McFarlane. Loving father of Sheila Domonsky (husband Brian predeceased), Patti Desjardins (husband Bernard) and Diane McFarlane. Cherished grandfather of Jeff Domonsky (wife Kathryn), Brad Domonsky, Andrea Daily (husband David), Celyne Sulston (husband Chris) and great grandchildren Brian, Kora, Taylor, Brianna, Reed, Maisie, Sadie, Ledy, Haydyn and Pyper. Sadly missed by canine friend Maggie. Dear son of Alexander and Ella (Surtees) McFarlane predeceased. Dear brother of Randal (wife Jean), Dorothy Ryan (husband Gerard) both predeceased, and Edna Widdifield (husband Lloyd predeceased). Dear brother-in-law to Robert predeceased (wife Patricia), Fred (wife Lenora predeceased), Les (wife Betty), Myrtle McKenzie (husband Dave) both predeceased and Helen Connel (husband John) both predeceased, Elsie Knight (husband Roy predeceased) and Florence Draper (husband Bill) both predeceased. Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born in Charlton where Ivan married Beatrice (nee Watters) in 1948 moving to the Sudbury area in 1961. He worked for Shell Canada and Canadian Oil retiring in 1984 with 33 years service. A man of faith he belonged to St. James In the Valley United Church where he actively participated in the Church's fellowship and ministries. Ivan enjoyed gardening, travelling, sporting events (Hockey and Baseball). He was proud of his Scottish heritage. Ivan's courage and determination overcame challenges of health and wellness inspiring all who knew him. He will be remembered as a good man who was quick to help others living the lessons taught by Jesus in being a good Shepherd and Samaritan to all he met. Ivan was devoted to his loving family and he was happiest in their company. They will treasure his gift of memory knowing he is their guardian angel in Heaven. Funeral Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME Hanmer/Capreol Chapel 4605 Michelle Dr. Hanmer SATURDAY, May 28th, 2011 at 11 A.M. Interment in the Valley East Cemetery.
