Jean Agnes McGregor (nee Stewart)

Born: December 22, 1939

Passed: March 3,2024

It is with great sorrow that our family announces the passing of our wonderful matriarch. Mom was surrounded by a room full of loved ones when she peacefully passed away.

She was born in the little town of Peterbell, Ont. To her parents Kathleen Stewart  McAlpine and James

Stewart. Eventually the family moved to Sultan, Ont. This is where mom met dad (Eugene ) and married in 1958. Fifty-five years later dad passed. Their love transcended all the ups and downs of a long marriage. Jean and Eugene moved to Sudbury in 1964 to raise their family. They retired back to Sultan the year dad turned 61 and remained there until their passing.

Jean is survived by her two children: Russ (Marina) and Wendy (Bill) and her grandchildren Michael (Kat) Cassandra (predeceased), Joshua (Niki), and Tabitha (Michael) and her  great grandchildren Liam, Connor, Ben, Stephen, and Olivia.

Her siblings were an integral part of her family life. (predeceased are) Russell (Aline), Jimmy (Mary), Juliette (Eddy), Helen(Robert),still  with us is, Alvina (Harvey),Margaret(Guy), Frank(Nicole), and Johnny.

Mom had lost all her in-law siblings: Stanley, Thelma(Joe),Irvin(Claire), Ernie(Violet), Annie(Gaston), Mabel(Danny),Harold(Eleanor),and Alvin(Irene is still with us). Auntie Jeannie will be missed by her 55 nieces and nephews along with their children.

We were all recipients of Mom’s heartfelt gifts whether it was a jar of homemade jam from different wild berries, a freshly baked tasty pie of many varieties, a delicious fruit cake, a crocheted afghan or a pair of socks or mittens.

You knew they came from love.

Mom loved the outdoors you could often find her tending to her garden, on a boat fishing the day away, in the bush hunting that elusive moose, partridge or rabbit, or crouched down in a patch of blueberries the size of grapes or being pricked by the thorns of a raspberry bush.

She did enjoy indoor activities as well; like reading books on her couch. Sometimes you could find Mom asleep with her nose literally in the book. She loved a game of scrabble, doing crosswords, playing cards, even the boisterous game of PIG. Bingo with her buddies was also at the top her fun things to do. Jean was also involved in her church, often doing the readings and whatever else was asked of her.

The space she has left in our hearts will truly be felt. Hopefully, to be occupied by our fondest memories of Jean Agnes McGregor.
