McKEY, Norton - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norton McKey on August 16, 2012, at the age of 91. Nort leaves behind his brother, Brad Robinson, daughters Linda Grover, Cathy McKey and Shirley McKey and son Lawrence Volway. Beloved father-in-law to Randy Grover and Jeannette Proulx, grandfather to Brent (Laura), Tracy (Rob), Chantal (Ben), Megan, Fletcher (Amanda), James, Christopher, Erin, Morgan, Nicole, Billy, Dee Dee, Kathy and Trevor Junior. Predeceased by loving wives Hilja (nee Peltola) and Lucy (nee Wright), partner in life, Hope Lowe, brother Ken McKey, sister Catherine Lillow, son Trevor Volway, mother Marguerite McKey Robinson (nee Norton), stepfather Harry Robinson and father, Fred McKey. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention. Norton was blessed with having lived a full and rich life. Maintaining his sense of humour until the end, Norton will be remembered for his wit, kindness and stories. . . oh, the stories! Thanks to Dr. Hans Dy, Norton's GP and all of the doctors and nurses that cared for him both outside and inside The Ottawa Hospital. Special thanks to the staff at the General Campus, Cardiac Care Unit, the personal care staff at the Champlain Community Care Access Centre, and to the staff at The Ravines Retirement Residence, who are like part of the family. A celebration of Norton's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sunday August 26, 2012 at The Ravines Retirement Residence, 626 Prado Private, Nepean. At Norton's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Dorset Heritage Museum, The Ottawa Hospital or The Sudbury Regional Hospital.
