MEI, Gino - It is with regret we announce the passing of Gino Mei, Sunday, September 30, 2012 in his 93rd year at Health Sciences North. Beloved son of Olympia and Madeline (nee Dominica) Mei, both predeceased. Loving husband of Frances (nee Paruch) Mei, predeceased by an infant daughter and brother Primo (wife Anna), both predeceased, and Richard (wife Agnes), both predeceased. Will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren as well as seven godchildren residing in Canada and the United States. Gino met Frances (nee Paruch) in 1943 while serving in the Canadian Armed Services and was married in Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1944, coming to Sudbury in 1946 having resided here ever since. A member of St. Patrick's Church and assisted his wife Frances in the preparation of the “Rosary's“ annually presented to each of the children celebrating their first communion from each of St. Theresa, Corpus Christi and St. Christophers Schools. Gino retired from the Mechanical Department, Inco, in 1976. At Gino's request there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 in St. Patrick's Church, Walford Road, Sudbury at 11 a.m. Cremation with interment in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Copper Cliff. A luncheon will follow the Memorial mass in the St. Patrick's Hall. In lieu of flowers, gifts to the St. Patrick's Church Memorial fund will be greatly appreciated. Friends may gather at the church after 10:30 a.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Sudbury.
