Rest in peace Michael Samuel Mensour. It is with great sadness that the family announces his passing in Sudbury on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the age of 75, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Camillia Mensour and his brother Stephen (Anne-Marie-predeceased). Mike leaves behind his sisters Margaret (Ken Rivers) and Catherine (Robert Marinier), his brother-in-law James Stanko (Janet), and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Michael had just celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with his wife and best friend Patricia. They met in law school at the University of Western Ontario and shared a law practice as Mensour and Mensour for 34 years, retiring in 2011. Together they shared their life with their wonderful son Mitchell (Mitch) and his fiancée Dr.Courtney Shalla. He also leaves behind his feline friends Buddy and arch nemesis Rudy, with whom he enjoyed a complicated but hilarious relationship (and we have the photos and videos to prove it!)

In addition to his law practice, Michael sat as a deputy judge of the Small Claims Court for 44 years. He was a past president of the Sudbury District Law Association and a political commentator on various TV panels. He enjoyed a great camaraderie with his colleagues, clients and basically everyone he met. He was a stalwart friend who stepped up gladly and without hesitation to help.

He was gregarious, witty and a great raconteur, which he put to good effect during his standing lunches at Gus’s restaurant as well as when emceeing numerous social events. A bit of a prankster, Michael enjoyed gently teasing his friends, especially Leaf supporters! (Go Habs)

He made us laugh until he didn’t, and then he made us cry.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 14, 2023, between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. in the Exhibit Room at Science North 100 Ramsey Lake Rd, Greater Sudbury. Words of remembrance at 2 p.m.
