MIHAICHUK, William Melvin - Born May 11, 1913 in Melville, Saskatchewan, passed away March 29, 2011 in Sudbury. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Maria Mihaichuk of the Ukraine. Beloved husband of Dorothy Mihaichuk, predeceased April 2, 1998. They had married in Colchester, Essex, England. Loving Dad of Shirley Chomitsch (George) of Sudbury and Patrick Mihaichuk (Carmen) of Lively. Cherished grandfather of Kirk of Val Caron, Allan (Evelyne) of Chelmsford, Dawn of Toronto and Andrea of Sudbury and great grandchildren Justin, Kyle and Courtney. Predeceased by his sisters Martha Swerdan, Ann Phillipchuk and brothers Peter Mihaichuk, Paul Mihaichuk, and John Mihaichuk. Survived by sister Nastasia (Nellie) Matychuk of Surrey, B.C., brother Harold Mihaichuk of Coquitlam, B.C., also predeceased by sister-in-law Olive McCaw and brother-in-law Jack Nevard. William worked at Burwash Industrial Farm for 23 years. He served in WWII from 1940 to 1945 as an army sergeant stationed in Colchester, England; Avellino, Italy; Ghent, Belgium and North Africa. He enjoyed gardening, reading, needlepoint, playing crib and especially watching the grandchildren play sports. “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, with all thy strength and with all thy mind. This is the first great commandment and the second is like unto it: thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.“ Love you Dad with all my heart! Funeral Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Friday, April 1st, 2011 at 11am. Interment in the Civic Cemetery.
