MILES – Allan James - Born on February 10, 1952, Allan passed away March 23, 2024 surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his father, Norman Miles and his mother Anna (Tufts).

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandi (Ladyk), his three children; Jim (Lesley), Jennifer (Mark), Meaghan (Andrew) Dubowsky, and his grandchildren: Jake, Ty, Alex, Abbie, Cole and Cruz.

Allan began his career at Inco at an early age as a labourer, which evolved into an Electrical Apprenticeship. Transitioning from Inco as an Electrician, he ventured into entrepreneurship, founding his own Electrical Construction Company. Allan later returned to the mines, serving as a Senior Electrical Superintendent for local mining contracting companies and travelled from Northern Ontario to Yellowknife and other fly-in camps.   An enthusiast of the outdoors, Allan eagerly awaited the fall season to engage in his beloved pastime of hunting.

He achieved numerous milestones in his passion, serving as a bear hunting guide for many years and maintaining a trap line.  Allan’s other passion was fishing and he went on many fishing trips. He always looked forward to being on the water whether it was with family, friends or alone.   Summers were cherished at camp with his family, creating enduring memories. Allan relished taking his children and their friends on March break adventures, occasionally indulging in activities Sandi might disapprove of.

For many years, Allan found solace in Florida with Sandi, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, children and grandchildren, living life to the fullest. He enjoyed being on his Harley riding with no destination in sight.  Allan wore his heart on his sleeve and generously shared his wisdom and stories with those he cherished, treating them like family. Sandi, his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he enjoyed every visit with them.

The family would like to thank Dr. Knox and the doctors and nurses at the Espanola Regional Hospital for their compassion and excellent care.   A special thank you to Dr. Andre Michon and Nurse Paula Noble for going above and beyond in caring for Allan.  As per Allan’s request, there will be no visitation or service.
