It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Steven Miller of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, Naughton, Ontario at the age of 60. Loving husband and best friend of 24 years to Rita Trudeau. Loving father to Kasta Budden, Christopher (Stephanie), Edward, Emily (Cory), Lailah and Lily. A wonderful Grandpa to Catherine, Mack, and Taylor. Steve was born to Eileen (nee McLeod) and Merlyn Miller (Sam) both predeceased. Beloved brother to Darlene Church (Bill), Lorna Reynish (Darrell), Wayne Shabogesic (Stella predeceased), Cheryl Miller-Martin (Guy), John Miller (Marcel Bruneau), Lauretta “Laurie” Miller (Felix), Peter Miller (Melanie), Harold Miller predeceased and Patricia Miller (Pat Nootchtai). Steve will be very much missed by Rita’s family. Brother-in-law to Angela Wemigwans, Bruce Trudeau (Theresa), Jean Trudeau, Randy Trudeau (Catherine), Dean Trudeau (Shelley), Jacinta Solomon (Darcy), Sonia and son-in-law to Granville Trudeau and Lina Trudeau (Simon) both predeceased. Steve was named after his grandfather Edward Miller predeceased. He will be also missed by his auntie Myra Crowe (predeceased) (Norman) and Auntie Doreen McLeod (predeceased). He will also be missed by Aunt Dolores and Uncle Jeff. He was the godchild to Jeffrey Naponse and Doreen McLeod and godfather to Janna Miller-Dokis. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and his dog George.

Steve was a dedicated husband and family man who always helped where he was needed. He was a “Jack of all Trades” with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, cars and mechanics. He was former Chief of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek for 10 years (2008-2018) and Councillor for 4 terms. Steve worked for Browns Concrete and Hytainen Fuels and in his younger years at Woolco. He was a talented musician, he loved playing his guitar and listening loud and proud. He loved spending time with his family and friends, telling stories. He also had a love for the outdoors and  enjoyed hunting and fishing.  

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff, nurses and doctors for their care and compassion at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, Ontario.

Funeral Visitation at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St., at Hazel St., Sudbury on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 2-5; 7-9pm and after 9am Saturday. Funeral Service in the Lougheed Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11am. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
