MILLS, Leslie Alexander - In Loving Memory of Leslie A. Mills, 96 years, Monday, July 16th, 2012 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury. Beloved husband of Margaret “Jean“ (Beckett) Mills predeceased 1993. Loving father of Howard (wife Monica), Allan and Chris (wife Carol-Lynn). Cherished grandfather of Deb (husband Steve), Rick (wife Shelley) and great grandchildren Rachel, Travis, Mikala, Ben and Nathalie. Dear son of Leslie and Ella (Duff) Mills predeceased. Dear brother of Arthur (wife Marge) both predeceased, Garnet (wife Ethel predeceased), Harold predeceased (wife Sky), Edgar, Raymond (wife Maybelle), Bud, Helen Johnston predeceased and Wilma Giles (husband Jack). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in Bruce Mines, Les married Margaret “Jean“ Beckett in Sudbury in 1946. He was the chief clerk at the Transportation Department, having 42 years at INCO, retiring in 1978. A proud Canadian, he had served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. He was a life member and past president of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #76. He had been a longtime and past executive member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Credit Union. Les will be remembered as a well-respected and well- organized man who was always willing to help others and build a better community. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may call 6-8pm Sunday and after 10:30am Monday). A memorial service will be held 7:30pm Sunday under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #76 Sudbury. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Monday, July 23rd, 2012, at 11:30am. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
