It is with deep sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Carla Nurmi (née Urso), in Sudbury, surrounded by the love of her family, Friday, May 17, 2024, at the age of 70 years. Loving partner to Bob Stack. Dear mother of Mark and Laura (Jared). Predeceased by her parents Marco and Serafina (Ammirante) of Sudbury. Loving sister to Pat (Ursula), Gerry (Lisa), Susie (Octavio) and the late Lori-Ann (Nick). Carla will also be missed and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Carla’s compassion touched everyone she met, always putting others above herself. A devoted mother, she guided her children with boundless love, encouragement, and pride. Carla was passionate about sports, especially cheering on her beloved Blue Jays. Her humor and the enjoyment she had eating desserts with loved ones created lasting memories.
Despite facing adversity, Carla’s spirit remained unbroken, her strength shining through the tough times. Her kindness and compassion will be remembered by those fortunate enough to know her.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences North and VON for the exceptional care, kindness, and the love you showed Carla.
A celebration of life will be held at the Hemlock Hall, located at the Northbury Hotel and Conference Centre, June 1, 2024, from 1-4 pm.
Donations can be made in her name at the Canadian Lung Association, Sudbury, or the Cancer Society of Canada.
