OKE, Iris (Doherty) - 1919-2013 It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother at the age of 93. Loving wife of Jerry Oke (predeceased 1995). Dear mother of Sharon Wallace of Sudbury, Wayne John Wallace (Arlene) of Aurora, Stepmother to Terrie Oke, predeceased Feb. 2013, (Carole) of Essex and Paula Oke (Lynn) of Stittsville. Loving grandmother of Shawnda (Rob) of Toronto, Steven (Kami) of Fort Smith, Christine (Felix) of Squamish, Wayne Jr. of Aurora and Michael (Monica) of Toronto and Step- Grandmother to Shawn and Karen of Alberta. Great Grandmother to Tavis, Joshua, Jasmine, Katie, Adam, Jeremy, Sierra, Luca, Zachary, Jonah, Sarah, Gabriella, Julia and Nicholas. Daughter of Elizabeth and Edward Doherty, sister to Edna, Loretta, Eveline and Lloyd, all predeceased. Mom's pride and joy were her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She was very active most of her 93 years, having participated in volleyball, basketball, softball, bowling 5-pin and 10-pin as well as playing golf. During her senior years, she was extremely active in the Sudbury Senior Games having both organized and participated in many of the games herself. She loved the Senior Centre and enjoyed playing cribbage with all her friends on Tuesday afternoons. Special thanks to the staff on the 5th floor of the South tower and the 4th floor North tower Palliative Care Unit at Health Sciences North. Thanks to Dr. McElhaney, Alexandra Mantha (soon to be Dr. Mantha) for her above and beyond care shown to our mother. Thanks also to “Rob“ who our mother adored, he always brought a smile to her face and to Lyn on the 5th floor. Cremation has taken place and a “Celebration of Life“ will be held in May. Time and location to be announced. Donations may be made in her honour to the Canadian Cancer Society, the ALS Society, the Palliative Care Unit at Health Sciences North or the charity of your choice.
