[December 6, 2022]

We regretfully announce the passing of Brian Denis O’Leary of Espanola, Ontario. Son of Margaret Mary (Crofton) and Denis George O’Leary both predeceased. Brother of Norah, Michael (Dawn Houlihan), George (predeceased) and Alannah (Ian McQuarrie) both predeceased. Survived by his wife Emma (Langlois), two daughters Angela (Ernst Bien-aime) and Kathryn (William MacDonald), grandchildren Lee (Sam Hebert), Ty, Benjamin, Ian and Sophie, and great grandson Malyx.

The strong silent type, Brian was a wonderful wise man who lived a great life and was loved immensely. He worked for 38 years in the Forest Products industry in Espanola. He enjoyed spending his time at the cottage on beautiful Agnew Lake. He was a star in track and field, a kicker (punter) in football and also enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, golf, and downhill skiing. He shared his love of sports with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed listening to his granddaughter play the piano. Brian was an avid reader and later found the time to do some writing of his own.

From Brian:

“Musings of an Older Man, a book written by myself for my family only, was a true journey of my life. One of the things I didn’t touch on during the writing was the end of my life. I am writing this with the full knowledge that my life is ending shortly and what a journey it has been.

If people put more effort into trying to do good kind things in the world, it is a good possibility that things would vastly improve. All I am asking is that people should take a step back and reflect upon what they are going to say or write, before communicating any thoughts, ideas, or contemplations. A little more kindness in the world goes a long way to correct everything from Putin to climate change. Thank you for a great life and beautiful family. It is indeed a beautiful world.”
