ORNELLA, Ida Maria Pasqua - In loving memory of Ida Maria Pasqua Ornella (Mrs. O) (nee Chezzi) 94 years April 24, 1916- February 25, 2011. Passed away Friday morning February 25th, 2011 surrounded by her family at Extendicare-Falconbridge, Sudbury. Beloved wife of Luigi Ornella predeceased 1980. Loving mother of Emilia Archambeault (husband Reg deceased) of Chapleau, Luigi “Lou“ (Carol) of Azilda, Michael (Loretta) of Barrie, Gary (Beverley) of Snow Valley and Angela Mallette (Dan) of Comox, British Columbia. Cherished Nonna of Peter (wife Melissa) Archambeault, Nikki predeceased, Regina (husband Peter St. Denis) Roddy (wife Carole) Ornella, Juliana (husband Mick Weaver), Barry (wife Lynne) Ornella, Nicole, Neil, Natalie, Shannon (husband Bryan Fick) and Kris (wife Susie Mallette), great Nonna of Timothy and Brandon St. Denis, Bayden and Brianna Weaver, Grace and Kaitlyn Mallette , Madelyn and Elysse Fick and Kaylie Jessica Archambeault and Kalan and Riley Payzant. Dear sister of Emma Shalatynski (husband Mike deceased) (formerly of Coniston) of Oakville, Louisa deceased (husband Pat Dimaria of California), Carlo (wife Sylvia), Anita (Louie Geremia) and Lorenzo (wife Cecile) all predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in Copper Cliff she was the daughter of the late Guido and Angela Chezzi. Mrs. O was a devout Catholic and a member of the CWL of Holy Family Church, Britt. Family, friends and people in need were the focus of her life. Ida was the first woman to work on the converter alley at the Coniston smelter for INCO during the Second World War. She was a member of Britt's Seniors Club, past president of the 4H Club and member of the Britt's Friends club. As an avid supporter of the community she was chairperson of the March of Dimes in Britt for many years. Ida was an avid reader and regular Lecturer at Mass. She was an original supporter and fundraiser for the Britt nursing station and the Holy Family Parish (Britt & Byng Inlet) Annual Mixed Slo-Pitch Softball Tournament. Mrs. O will be fondly remembered for her energetic willingness to welcome and help anyone in need and of course her impeccable wonderful memory of people, places & events. She was also known for her fabulous home cooking, her love of writing cards, notes, letters and caring phone calls. She prepared shopping bags, was an enthusiastic bingo & euchre player, enjoyed doing word puzzle, loved to listen and dance to waltz and polka music, and was the best “Chicken Bird“ dance floor leader. It was also important for her to do the rosary and her daily prayers. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Thank you to the staff at the Extendicare Falconbridge 2nd floor East. Resting at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St. Sudbury Monday, February 28th, 2011 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thence to rest at Holy Family Church, Britt, Ontario Tuesday, March 1st from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church, Britt Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Britt Cemetery.
