OSTROSKI, John William - Of Espanola passed away at the Espanola Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 15th, 2011 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Adrienne (nee Meloche). Dear son of the late William & Christina (nee Topolinski) Ostroski. Loving father of Diane (husband John Paquette) of Webbwood & David (wife Lorraine) of Petawawa & stepfather to Diane (husband Richard Presseau), Danny Kust (wife Bonnie) both of Massey & Sylvia Weatherly (husband Tim) of Azilda. Partner of Mae Deschamps and missed by her daughter Laurie-Anne McCallion & her daughters Emma & Chloe. Will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Corinna, Jasmine, Shauna, Lisa & step-grandchildren, Gill, Taylor Isabel, Krista, Joey & Timmy & great- grandchildren, Noah, Karmen & Holly. Very dear brother of the late Julie Bazar, Mike Ostroski & Mary Kaben. Former husband of Janet Ostroski. John served with the armed forces until the end of the Second World War & returned to Espanola to begin work with KVP until his retirement with E. B. Eddy Forest Products in 1986. He was a Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 39, Espanola since 1945 where he served as President for the 2005-2006 term. He was also a Life Member. He started as Captain of Espanola Fire Department & became Chief of the Spanish River Fire Department. He also operated the Greyhound Bus Lines & was an entrepreneur of many businesses. John was an avid sportsman partaking in bowling, curling & softball. In earlier years, he was active in the 33rd Technical Squadron & 2nd Battalion Irish Regiment of Canada. He will be sadly missed in the Nursing Home as Santa Claus & the Easter Bunny. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Espanola on Saturday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. with Father Gilles Grandmont officiating. Interment of ashes in the Espanola Cemetery. If so desired, Memorial tributes may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Espanola Hospital Foundation. Arrangements by BOURCIER FUNERAL HOME Ltd., Espanola.
