PALKO, Margaret Pauline (nee Derochie) - With deep sorrow the family announces the death of Marg on Sunday, March 10, 2013, peacefully at the St. Joseph Villa at the age of 79 years. Beloved wife of Steve predeceased. Daughter of the late Edward and Rosalie (nee Villeneuve) Derochie both predeceased. Loving mother of Mary Kuuskman (Peter) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ron (Betsy) of Port Elgin, Roberta Israelson (Tony), Peter (Shelley) of Hanmer, and Philip (Linda-Lee deceased). Cherished grandmother of Tara, Kate and Michaela Kuuskman, Amanda and Lauren Palko, and Sean Israelson. Step-grandmother of Jeff and Jake. Great-grandmother of Lincoln and Eli. Sister of Jacqueline Beach (Milton predeceased), Lillian Derochie, John Derochie (Ivy) both predeceased, Darlene Sweezy predeceased, Reverend Sister Roberta Derochie, Joseph Derochie (Julie predeceased) of Vernon, BC, Carolyn Murray, Peter Derochie (Marianne predeceased) of Rocky Mountain House, AB, Louise Derochie of Vancouver, David Derochie (Helen) of Whitefish Falls, and Heather Mahon (David) of Bracebridge. Marg cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very spiritual and gentle soul who touched the lives of many with her sense of humour and wisdom. She was a gifted seamstress and knitter and enjoyed cross-country skiing and spending summers at her camp on Lake Penage. Marg was very involved with the St. Jerome School CPTA and St. Andrew's CWL, including a leadership role in both as President. She was loved by the staff and residents at the St. Joseph Villa, her extended family, who will miss her gentle hand waves and hand blown kisses to those she called “my pet“. A memorial mass will be held at St. Andrew The Apostle Church on Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. followed by a reception at Le Club Amical at 553 Lavoie Street. Arrangements entrusted to the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME.
