PETRAK, Barbara (née Holetich) - The family announces with sorrow, her death in Val Caron, Monday, May 9, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Daughter of the late Maxwell and Sofija Holetich. Wife of the late Milan Petrak, predeceased in 1997. Beloved mother of Mary Petrak (Morris K. Sloan). Predeceased by her brother Frank Holetich. Immigrant of Yugoslavia her family moved to Sudbury when she was only 3 years of age. Barbara worked at Inco in the plate machine shop for 2 years, thereby contributing to the war effort. Thereafter, she moved to Levack where she enjoyed her home for many years. She will be remembered for having taken pleasure and pride creating vegetable and flower gardens which were the envy of all, enjoyed her morning coffee with the Blue Bird Gals and playing cards at the Onaping Falls Golden Age Club twice a week. The sparkle of her eyes were her canine companions Scarlet, Tammy, Tara, Katie. The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation to her long time friend Tynne and the Elizabeth Centre staff, particularly Michelle, Jennifer, Chantal and Diane for their kind and compassionate care in her final days. In keeping with Barbara's request, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. Donations (by cheque only) to the Alzheimer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Pet Save would be greatly appreciated.
