POFFLEY, Ralph William Thomas - In Loving Memory of Ralph William Thomas Poffley, 74 years, Thursday, April 18th, 2013 at Health Sciences North. Loving husband of Irene Poffley (nee Mattison) of Sudbury to whom he was married to for 51 years. Adored father of Barbara Pelland (husband Gilles) Steven (wife Sandra) and Jamie (wife Sherri). Cherished grandfather of Justin Schroeder (Melissa), Sarah Poffley (Tim), Jaimie Anne Poffley, Ryan Poffley, Desireé Lamothe, Pasquale Pelland and Sean Lamothe. Dear great grandfather of Matthew, Adam and Joshua Ristimaki. Son of Eloi and Ivy Poffley both predeceased. Dear brother of Vincent Poffley, Barbara Potter (husband Ace) and Allison Fraser predeceased. Ralph worked as miner for INCO retiring after 38 years of service. He was a man of great integrity. He spent many winters managing the rink at Carmichael playground, often having the best outside ice in town, and would often keep the playground open late for the older boys to play hockey. As his boys got older he enjoyed hunting and fishing with them. His latest endeavor being bow hunting on Manitoulin Island. Just prior to being hospitalized with cancer he purchased a new smaller and easier to handle snow blower, but never had a chance to use it. While his boys and neighbor Dwain Saucier kept the driveway clean, he always had to know how it was being cared for - was it cleaned off after being used. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Monday, April 22nd, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. In lieu of flowers donations to the SAM BRUNO P.E.T SCAN would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday and after 12:00pm on Monday).
