RICHARDSON, Ronald Basil - With family by his side, the passing of Ronald Basil Richardson of Sudbury, Ont. occurred on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at his residence in Sudbury in his 79th year after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 3, 1933 in Chatham, NB, he was the son of the late Edmund and Theresa (Gautreau) Richardson. Ron came to Sudbury in the early fifties where he spent the next 39 yrs with INCO as a maintenance mechanic at various locations. He was a member and Eucharistic minister of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church and lifetime member of the Caruso Club of Sudbury. He enjoyed gardening, working with his hands and especially picking blue berries during the summer months. Ron was also an avid bowler and bocce player. Ron was predeceased by his wife of 52 yrs Rose Richardson (nee DeSimone) and his son David (Joanne) of Markam, Ont. He is survived by his sons, Daniel (Gwen) of Sudbury, Ont, Wayne (Lyndsay) of Kamloops, BC, Susan (Lawrence) of London, Ont. and Michael of Vancouver, BC. Cherished grandfather of Tyler, Alexander, Gregory, Chelsea, Alexa, Katie and Mathew. Dear brother of Theresa Savoie (Raoul), Kathleen Richardson, Olive Robichaud, Joan Richardson, Bernadette Richard (Oliver), Patricia Ann Robichaud (Stephen), Eugene Richardson, Edward Richardson (Marg Dawson), Richard Richardson (Aurelda) and Daniel Richardson and predeceased by his sisters, Regina Richardson , Ann Marie Richardson and Anita Cormier (Edgar) and his brothers Albert Richardson and Arthur Richardson and brother-in-laws, Frank DeSimone and Gordon Sage. Sadly missed by his sisters- in-law, Janet Sage, Pat DeSimone, numerous nieces and nephews. Lovingly remembered by close friends and relatives, especially his nephew Jeff Sage. The family wishes to thank the Doctor's and Nurses of the Sudbury Regional Cancer Centre, CCAC, the nurses of Bayshore and especially his PSW Tara Robbins whose compassion and care of Ron was greatly appreciated. Also, the family wish to thank the Warm Hearts volunteers, especially Dianne Charette, whose visits with Ron, kept his spirits high. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9 p.m. Friday with parish prayers at 3pm). Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church 30 Beech St., Sudbury Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment in the family plot at the Civic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison Vale Hospice or Chris the King Building Fund would be appreciated.
