In loving memory of Ronald "Ron" Henry Riehl in his 82nd year.

Ron passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18th, 2024, after a short but courageous battle with cancer while being cared for at Health Sciences North.

Ron was the devoted husband and best friend of 43 years to the love of his life, Laurence (nee Desforges). He was the much loved father to Elaine Erickson predeceased (Don), Joan Cummins (Ken), Mark Ainslie (Leah), Donna Laurie (Marv, Lachlan predeceased) and Angela. Cherished Papa to Jamie, Geoff, Melissa, Shannon, Ryan, Brett, Mark Jr, Danny, Lisa, Lacey, Matthew, Sarah and Victoria. He was also the Papa to 19 great grandchildren. Ron is predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Beryl Riehl (nee Pollard). He is survived by his brother Jim Riehl (Diane) and nephews Jeff and Greg Riehl and their families. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Ron was born in London, ON on March 12th, 1941. He worked at EMCO for over 40 years and leaves a legacy of impeccable work ethic.  He was a die hard and ever suffering TML fan. He was an avid reader and loved nothing more than to sit in his gazebo, or as his grandchildren called it "Papa's Bazebo" with a good book , listening to blues music and bird watching. In his younger days he enjoyed fly fishing, cross country skiing and was a past member of the Capreol Cross Country Ski Club developing the trails that are still in use today. He was a longtime member of Trinity United Church in Capreol. In recent years, Ron enjoyed going to the M&R with "the boys" trying to solve the worlds problems. It was his job amongst "the boys" to keep track of whose turn it was to pay for the days coffee. His grandchildren brought him the greatest joy and he was so proud to watch them grow into the incredible and successful young adults they all are. He truly was at his happiest when spending time with family and friends.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of 4 north as well as to Dr's Emack and Carleson and staff of the Cancer Clinic for their attentive care and compassion.

At his request, there will be no visitation or service.  The family will hold a Celebration of Life along with entombment at the Capreol Cemetery at a later date to be advised. Donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home. For donations or messages of condolences, please visit Lougheed Funeral Homes Sudbury
