Rock, Marilyn (née Heintz) 1960-2022

In loving memory of Marilyn Rock who passed away in Sudbury, Wednesday June 22, 2022 at the age of 62 years. Daughter of the late Sidney Heintz and the late Beulah (née Stauffer) Heintz. Loving wife of Gary Rock. Survived by her brothers J. David Heintz (Anne), Douglas (Joanne) and by her sister Jane Heintz-Grove (Douglas). Also survived by her mother-in-law, Gloria Rock and brother-in-law Rob Rock (Linda). Predeceased by father-in-law Rocky. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Lou, Nicholas, Katie, Ben, Sara, Hillary and Shane as well as many in the extended family. She will be missed by her fur friends and companions Rosie, Scout and Oakley.

Marilyn was a force. When she decided on a goal, whether it was her commitment to her gym schedule, keeping her home organized or trying a new hobby, she was focussed, tenacious and engaged. Marilyn was retired from Bell Canada where she worked for many years as an operator. Outside of work life, when she was able, she enjoyed walking her dogs, spending time in nature, going to the YMCA, and spending time with family. She also really enjoyed a good, hearty meal and above all, loved her husband’s ability to create amazing food. Marilyn loved a good deal and never, ever paid full price for something. Those of us around her, including her siblings, were in awe of her ability to eat and maintain her fit figure. After experiencing many health setbacks, Marilyn continued to be an example and light to all of us who knew her on how to forge on with dignity in the face of adversity. There were many setbacks and she bounced back each time, learning new skills and forging a new path. Despite many changing abilities and required adjustments, she found ways to continue to acknowledge birthdays and other celebrations by sending cards. We have all learned from her and for that we are grateful.

The family would like to thank the many health care providers that became increasingly more important given Marilyn’s health over these past years. We also would like to thank the staff on 6 South at Health Sciences North, Sudbury who showed us what excellence in health care can be and provided us with compassionate care and kind guidance to allow us to comfort and support Marilyn in her last days.

Donations in memory of Marilyn can be directed to your local YMCA or the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
