In loving memory of Shirley Rogan (nee Weiss) who passed away at Maison McCulloch Hospice on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, in her 89th year.

Shirley was born in Edmonton, Alberta and moved to Sudbury in 1953 with her sister and family, Vivian (predeceased) and Lester McDougall (predeceased) and their son Raymond (Jan).  She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband Matthew of over 55 years, and her youngest daughter Kimberley Rogan Smeaton (David).  She is survived by her daughter Laura Markley (Thomas predeceased), two grandchildren, Kristin McLeod (Ian) and Kyle Yli Renko, as well as 3 great grandchildren, Kieran and Avyn McLeod, and Jack Yli Renko.

Matt and Shirley immensely enjoyed their cottage life on Georgian Bay and the Bay of Islands with their family and close friends including fishing, boating, visiting, and helping each other out with home improvements. In the winter months they enjoyed warm vacations to places like the Philippines, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and Bermuda, as well as curling and playing cards with friends.

We would like to thank and praise Maison McCulloch Hospice and their staff for the exceptional, personal, comforting, and gentle care Shirley received.  They made Shirley’s last days comfortable, pleasant and peaceful.

According to Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be scattered privately. Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Service. For donations or messages of condolence www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
