ROSS, Robert Philip

August 1, 2012 79

ROSS, Robert Philip (Bob) - It is with great regret and sorrow that the family announces his death in Sudbury, Friday, July 27th, 2012, at the Maison Vale Hospice, at the age of 79 years, with his soul mate Diane at his side. “Bob the Builder“ died peacefully after a prolonged, yet dignified battle with cancer, a disease which neither defined him nor diminished his love of life. Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Bob moved to Sudbury as a young man and worked as a shift boss for Falconbridge and INCO. He subsequently married and raised a family, working in both Elliot Lake and Sudbury. He continued his career in heavy mining equipment sales, before branching off on his own to sell hard rock drilling equipment and accessories. Bob was an avid aircraft and boat enthusiast, as well as a talented handyman. Demonstrating a distinct disdain for retirement, he continued into his later life as a well-known and respected carpenter, enjoying his spare time on Lake Agnew. His calm demeanor, genuine thoughtfulness and storytelling skills will be sadly missed by all. Son of the late Pearl Mosher (nee Cooling) and Earl Ross of Halifax. Loved and respected by his partner of 21 years, Diane Huffman of Sudbury. Loving father of Robin Ross (Lois), Shawn Ross (Jo-anne) and Cameron Ross (Vickie). Loving Grandfather to Kristy-Lee, Ian and Sami. Special “Grampa“ to Dillon, Ruby, Jackson and Cruz. Always a helpful and gracious stepfather to Micheal Huffman (Kim) and Michele Dias (Steve). Great-grandfather of 3. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison Vale Hospice or the Sam Bruno PET Scanner Fund would be appreciated. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the kind and generous staff of the Alzheimer Society of Sudbury, the Maison Vale Hospice and the CCAC who ensured that at the end of his life, Bob was cared for with dignity and compassion. Thank you to those special friends who have supported us through this difficult time. Wherever he is, he's building something beautiful. Funeral Visitation in the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury Monday, July 30th, 2012 from 12pm to 2pm only. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
