RUTCHINSKI, Helen Elizabeth - Passed away peacefully at Leacock Care Centre, Orillia Ontario on August 16, 2012 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Nicholas Rutchinski; loving mother of Bill and Danielle (spouse), Stephen, David and Liz. Beloved grandmother to Tjeerd, Persia, Frances and Eric. Predeceased by brother Randall, and sisters Maureen and Patricia. Born in Sault St. Marie (nee West) and residing most of her adult life in Capreol, she relocated to Orillia five years ago to be closer to family. Elizabeth was long associated with the Liberal Party in Nickel Belt riding in the Sudbury area prior to her relocation to Orillia where she became actively involved in Provincial and Federal election campaigns for local electoral aspirants. Elizabeth served overseas in Newfoundland in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II as a Wireless Operator. Elizabeth was involved in figure skating for over 30 years, donating her time, knowledge and expertise as a figure skating judge. In 1991 she received the National Elizabeth Swan Memorial Award in recognition of her dedication and contribution as a judge to synchronized skating. She was an active member of St. David's Anglican-Lutheran church in Orillia. A celebration of life will be held at St. David's Anglican-Lutheran Church, 133 James Street East, Orillia Ontario on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 1pm followed by a reception.
