It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our father Toimi “Tom” Saari at Finlandia Village with loving family at his side. Beloved husband of Eila (nee Ojanpera) predeceased in 1995. Loving father of Karen predeceased, Wendy (Les), Lauren, Tom, Patsi (Earl predeceased), Rick and Greg. Cherished grampa to Chris (Angel), Kelley and Jessica (Adam) and great grampa to Sloane, Porter and Matthew. Son of Arvid and Anni Saari both predeceased. Dear brother of Tapio (Eunice), Terttu (Bob predeceased), Taisto (Marg predeceased), Tauno (Joyce predeceased), Taimi (Jack predeceased), Toivo (Rae) and Voitto (Sandra). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Tom was very proud to have worked for Falconbridge for 30 years. Dad loved the outdoors, moose hunting and spending time at his camp on Skill Lake. He loved returning to Mattawa for family reunions to see his family. Dad loved art and he was a very talented painter. Special thanks to all the staff at Finlandia Village. They were like family over his lengthy stay there. Donations to the Finlandia SISU Foundation would be appreciated. There will be no funeral visitation or service. Cremation.
