SAMBORSKI, Jennie - It is with broken hearts that we announce the beautiful passing of Jennie Samborski who was surrounded by her family as she departed this life to go home to God. Though we will miss her dearly, Jennie left a legacy of love for her family and her friends and we will hold close so many happy memories. Jennie was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan on March 7, 1914, the daughter of Katarina and Peter Tyshynski. She married Nicholas Samborski (predeceased in 1971) in 1933, moved to Sudbury in 1942 and raised four children. She is much loved and cherished by her children Peter, Morris (Claire), Ann (Phil Dalle Vedove) and Gloria (Vladimir Berens). Forever adored Baba of Derek (Lise) and Jason (Kelly) Samborski and Karen (Mike Riopel) and Kevin Eaton; Debbie (Richard Preyde), Laura, Danny and Phil (Rachelle) Dalle Vedove and Monika (Colin Firth), Katherine, Carla (Scott Mills), Rainer (Noreen McChesney), David (Nathalie Dubois) Berens. Dear Prebabka of Nathan and Jorgia Samborski and Leeanne (Nick Gratton) and their children Tyler and Alyssa, Kevin Riopel (Mel) and their child Dylan and Tyler and Robyn Dzuirban of Morris' family; Paige, Deanna, Marissa and Sara, Philip and Emme of Ann's family and Alexandra, Kallie and Zachary, Elliot, Carter and Carson, Hannah, Alexi, Sophie and Lindsay of Gloria's family. Jennie was the older sister to brothers Mike (Helen), John (Ann), Bill (Lena predeceased 2001) and sister Olga Bayda. She was predeceased by her brothers John, Michael, Matt, Tony and Steve and by her sister Elsie Wetick. She will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jennie was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Women's League and Ukrainian Seniors' Centre and she made tens of thousands of holubtsi and perohy to raise funds for both organizations and to keep her family well fed and happy. Jennie loved gardening, picking berries, cooking, reading, bowling and doing her puzzles. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile. Jennie is resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may call 2-4; 6-8 p.m. Tuesday only). Panakhyda at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 40 Notre Dame Ave., on Wednesday, February 13th, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter Bodnar officiating. Burial to follow at the Lasalle Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations to Ukrainian Seniors' Centre or St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.
