SCHROEDER, Gerald Vernie “Jerry“ - In Loving Memory of Gerald Vernie “Jerry“ Schroeder, 68 years, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Ann Mahon (Oddy). Loving father of Karen (Ron Dignard), Dean (Joanne), Terry (Nikki) all of Chelmsford, Stephanie Oddy (Chris Roy) of Val Caron, Jennifer (Luc Dube) of Hanmer and Megan (Jason Gillies) of Toronto. Cherished grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 3 boys with a 4th on the way next month. Dear son of Hilda and Vernie Schroeder predeceased. Brother of Richard (Butch) predeceased, Claire (Gil Roy), Susan Jacksha, Phil (Sue) all of Sudbury, Verna (Keith Baston) of Chelmsford and Brenda (Marc Ranger) of Capreol. A proud Canadian, Jerry served in the Canadian Armed Forces having 7 years service in the Army. Jerry retired from Falconbridge 14 years ago. He worked his way through the ranks from labourer to shift foreman before his retirement. When he was younger, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He coached his son's hockey teams while they were growing up. In 1987 he took on a second family and made it his own although some people thought he was taking on more than he could handle. Again, as in other things, he proved them wrong. He was a loving father to his six children and had often said he would not have done anything different. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Funeral Prayers in the R. J. BARNARD CHAPEL, JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Sunday, February 26th, 2012 at 1 p.m. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
