It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Maria Scopazzi at Pioneer Manor on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the age of 97.
Beloved wife of Carlo Scopazzi (predeceased). Loving mother of Johnny (predeceased) (wife Marie), Charlie (Nancy Wilkie), and Eddy (wife Cheryl). Cherished Noni of Darren (wife Vanessa), Dean, Darryl (wife Lynne), Danny (wife Julie), Michael (wife Rose), and Mark. Bisnoni to Devon, Jasmine, Giancarlo, Anthony, Leah, Lucas and Alessandra. She is predeceased by her parents Giuseppe and Caterina and brother Gulielmus. Maria and Carlo, along with their young son Johnny, came to Canada in 1950. With little more than a few suitcases and a dream, they built a new home for their growing family. Maria will be remembered as a wonderful cook. Her meals were the highlight of many family gatherings. She was also an excellent seamstress, sewing several First Communion and wedding dresses, as well as numerous Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. Still somehow she always found time to keep in touch with her close friends and relatives, either in person or via the telephone. Family and friends were an important part of her life. She will truly be missed.
