SHAWONGONABE, Elizabeth (Abel) nee Roy - January 18, 1936 - February 10, 2012 - Elizabeth passed away at the Little Current Hospital surrounded by her family at the young age of 76. Wife to Late Paul Abel. Daughter of Harriett Manitowabi and Patty Wabegijig. Adopted and raised by Catherine Trudeau and Alex Roy. Sister of Mary Magna (Nash), Late Marina Pitawanakwat (Raymond), Late Gertude Maiangowi (Don), Late Wilfred Manitowabi (Grace), Late Ted Manitowabi (Yvonne), Late Nancy Recollet (Phillip), Rene Manitowabi, Julian Manitowabi, Louis Manitowabi (Agnes), Connie Pitawanakwat (Malcolm), Caroline Mandamin (Buddy), Christine Mandamin (Ted). Special Sister to the Late Julie Ominika. Mother of Maxine Shawongonabe , Madeline Bitti (Vince), Joe Roy, Brenda Fox, Rubina Nebeonquit (Dean), Bridget Elliott (Mick), Lawrence Shawongonabe ( Joanne), Terrence Wabegjig (Olive), Clarence Roy (Catherine), Lloyd Shawongonabe (Brenda), Jennifer Copegog (Larry), Sylvia Recollet (Bruce), Roxanne Recollet (Ted) and Raymond Abel (Jennifer) Will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren , great grandchildren and extended family. She enjoyed knitting, playing yahtzee, playing cards (especially hockey), and spending time with family. Wake services at Kaboni Church on Saturday at 3 pm. Funeral Mass/Service at Holy Cross on Monday, February 13, at 2:00 pm. Cremation to follow. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
