It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Marie Shebeski (nee Killeen) on March 28, 2024, at the Southwind Retirement Residence at the age of 78 after a very short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jean was born in Timmins on August 11, 1945. Beloved wife of the late Leonard Shebeski(2024). She was an incredibly loving mother to her three daughters, Leigh-Ann Pearse (David), Lisa Burden (Darren) and Kimberley Kelly (Peter). Very cherished grandmother to Michael Pearse (Kalita), Alitsha Watson (Jeff), Justen Pearse, Erik Burden (Molly), William Fillator (Roxanne), Amanda Fillator (Mitch) and Meaghan Kelly (Ryan). She was a very special great grandmother to Kaitlynn (predeceased), Tegan-Rae, Ila, Zaya, Faye, Alyvia, Liam, Emmett, Bohdi, Darrik, and Quinn. Jean was the daughter of the late William and Christine Killeen. Jean was deeply loved by her predeceased siblings Michael, David (Pauline), Ronald, Thomas, Leonard, and Brenda. She is survived by brothers Bob (Rejeanne), and Stanley with whom she shared a special bond.

Jean worked at Sudbury Hospital Services for over 35 years where she was President of her CUPE local for many years. Anyone who knew our mother saw a strong woman that taught hard work and perseverance to all within her circle. She was an influence on her children, grandchildren, and her “Greats”. Mom loved her family fiercely splitting her time between Sudbury, Elliot Lake, North Bay, and Whitby to ensure she never missed the special events, whether it was a cold arena, dance theatre, or an extremely hot day on the pitch. Jean spent many happy hours with her friends Debra, Shirley, Doreen, among others, playing bingo, going for coffee, or shopping at the mall.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Southwind Retirement home for their amazing care and support, the Home and Community Care Support Services team for providing prompt and collaborative care allowing Mom to pass in her home, and to the nurses from Bayshore and the Hospice Palliative care team that visited daily to assist us through this difficult journey.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Maison McCulloch Hospice or Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
