SKILLING, Velma “Lynn“ - In loving memory of Velma “Lynn“ Skilling Who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love and care of her family on Thursday, January 17th, 2013 at the too young age of 66, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her spouse and best friend, John Kanerva, daughters Stephanie and Karen Skilling of Sudbury, and son Craig Skilling (Beth) of Kitchener. Special step-mom to Kristine Kanerva-Giles (Craig), Jason Kanerva (Karen) and Kylene Kanerva. Dear daughter in law to Gwen Kanerva. Sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren Sarah, Kayla, Davin, Nicholas, Aiden, Kaitlin, Justine, Braeden, Calum, Lochlain and great grandchildren Braiden and Mason. Will also be missed by her extended family and friends near and far. Born in Sudbury to Velma (nee Orr) and Norm Blatchford, both predeceased. Lynn was an accomplished opera singer, organist, pianist, decorator, seamstress, gardener, antiques restorer, animal and bird lover, and an awesome cook. She was Employee of the Year at Extendicare York and more. “Ask Lynn“ is heard on a regular basis. Many thanks to Drs. Nathalie Slaney, Dr. Ewing-Bui, Dr. Natalie Roy, CCAC, the Red Cross, Bayshore Nurses and many neighbours and friends. At Lynn's request there will be no public visitation. Private family graveside service at Civic Memorial Cemetery. Donations in her memory to Pet Save.
