SLADE, Patricia Ann (Pat)

January 11, 1928 – October 20, 2021

Born in Haileybury, Ontario to Fred and Alice Thompson. Predeceased by sisters Joan and Yvonne.  Pat and Gord were married in July of 1954 and they raised Fred (Lynn Sutinen), Bobbie and Susan (George Murray) amongst many wonderful families in the close knit town of Falconbridge.  Gord’s career took them to Toronto for a few years, but when he retired in 1984 they returned to Sudbury and their friends, and the camp at Windy Lake. Gramma to Jackson, Erik, Amanda (James) and Steven (Kirsten) and great Gramma to George and Kaelynn.  Pat graduated from MacDonald College and taught for a short time at Sudbury High with her lifelong friend and travelling companion Nancy Mallett.   She loved learning new things and meeting new people. She travelled widely, read voraciously, and volunteered extensively.  She was a gifted conversationalist and would make everyone she spoke with feel comfortable and valued.

She would be delighted if you would remember her by doing some of the things she loved best. She would encourage you say more than hi to everyone you meet, ask about their interests and encourage them to pursue their passion, to help them know that that they and what they care about matters.  And she would encourage you to serve others.  At Pat’s request, there will be no visitation or service. If you wish to make a donation in her memory, the family would welcome contributions to the Gord and Pat Slade Heritage Fund with the Sudbury Community Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME . For donations and messages of condolence, www.lougheed.org
