SLOAN, Eldon - It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Eldon Sloan on February 12th, 2011. An incredibly loving father and grandfather, Eldon was born in Vinton, Quebec and was later raised in Sheenboro, Quebec by his aunt and uncle Mildred and Roy Perrault. Eldon worked on their farm from a young age and at 12 he went to work at the lumber camps driving their team of horses. In 1948, he came to Sudbury to work at INCO Ltd. and this is where he met his beloved wife Alice (nee Carr). They later moved to St. Charles and lived there until Alice's passing in 1978. Eldon, son of Charlie and Pearl (nee Dolihan) Sloan (both predeceased) was brother to Zita Seguin (Albert) predeceased, Clair Belland (Roland predeceased), Ray predeceased (Mona), Joan Mansell, Glenda Duff (Terry) and Doug Sloan (Loretta). Beloved father to Mike Sloan of Parksville, B.C., Kim Sloan and Donna (Marty Makela) of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Nicole Sloan (Marty Kennedy), Gavin Gareau, Lamica Hamagishi and Alicia Sloan, and Dylan Makela and Christon Makela. Dearest great grandfather of Mykeal Sloan and Cooper Kennedy. Dear companion to Georgina Leach. Eldon enjoyed time spent with his family, Chinese food and sports. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and cherished his special times with his granddaughter Nicole. He will be sadly missed by his pool buddies at the Frood Hotel. Funeral Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME 252 Regent St., at Hazel St. Wednesday, February 16th, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
