SMITH, Sarah (nee Wayman) - With deep sadness we announce that Sarah Smith (nee Wayman), age 90, died January 4 at Health Sciences North of natural causes. Sarah is predeceased by her husband William. She leaves behind two sons: Gordon (Louise) and Larry (Anna) and four grandchildren, Sarah, Patrick, Chiara and Angelina. Sarah was born in 1922 in Sunderland England. She worked for Weston's in London during World War II as a machinist in support of the war effort. She met her husband William, a sergeant in the Canadian Army, married in 1946 and moved to Canada, a war bride. Throughout Sarah's life, no matter what difficulties came her way, she remained independent, resourceful and ever optimistic. Sarah often said she had a guardian angel watching over her. A memorial will be held in the spring. Her ashes will be interred in a family plot at the Sudbury - Civic Memorial Cemetery.
