A life well lived

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our family matriarch, Simone Sobol, on March 2, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Villa.  She is now reunited with her dear husband Hector (predeceased 2009).  Through our tears, we take the time to honour and be thankful for this wonderful woman.  Loving mother of Randy (Louise) and Marilyn Knoll (Ken).  Proud Nana of her four granddaughters Kathy Sobol (Don), Alison Sobol, Landa Koski (Doug) and Karly McGibbon (Joseph). Also missed by her 6 great grandchildren who always brought a twinkle to her eye, Teejay, Logan, Annikka, Avery, Payton & Nathan.  Nana always made sure to find a chocolate or two and sneak it to the kids.  Special recognition also to Susan Felbaum who was an excellent caregiver and companion to Simone for many years.

Simone was born in Quebec on May 24,1925.  A longtime resident of Onaping, Simone could often be found at the library, golf course or walking around the block.  She and Hector produced a beautiful garden, the fruits of which many neighbours would enjoy.  She loved to knit, sew, cook, and bake and always had fresh pies and cookies readily available.  Nana was also famous for her 25 cent ice cream cones.  She enjoyed many winters in Florida, loved shopping and was known for finding the best bargains.

She had a zest for life that remained until her final days.  She never missed a family occasion and always put others before herself.  Her love, legacy and strength will live on in her family for generations to come.

We would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Villa who truly cared for Simone during her final few months and to the Southwind retirement residence where she lived for 12 years.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to St. Joseph’s Villa http://www.sjsudbury.com/index.php/st-josephs-foundation/  in Simone’s memory.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd.  Online condolences can be posted at www.RangersSudbury.com.
