SOMPPI, Mirjam (Salmela) - In loving memory of Mirjam (Salmela) Somppi, 92 years, Monday, November 7th, 2011 at the Health Sciences North. Beloved wife of Olavi Somppi predeceased 1963. Loving mother of Markku (Violet) of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Tina (Darrin Paquette), Mark (Tracy), Leena (Joey Poxleitner) and great grandchildren Krista, Kaden, Mckenzie, Brent, Aila and Gage. Dear daughter of Juho and Julia Salmela both predeceased. Survived by sisters Maire and Meeri both of Finland. Born in Puumala, Finland, she came to Canada living in Thunder Bay and then Sudbury. Mirjam worked for the Sudbury Board of Education for 20 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Ontario Finnish Resthome in Sault Ste Marie and then with Finlandia Koti in Sudbury. Private Family Funeral Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St., at Hazel St., Wednesday, November 9th, 2011. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
