Passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 6, 2022, after a long battle with vascular dementia. She was in her 97th year. Alice was born on Feb 18, 1926, in Sudbury to Joseph and Mae Campbell. She dearly loved this city and contributed to it through her long career at the Children’s Aid Society. She was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and enjoyed the company of her sorority sisters. Her interests were varied – knitting, reading, cooking, entertaining friends, golfing, curling, playing bridge and travel. She supported the Sudbury Theatre Centre, The Sudbury Symphony, Science North, and the Sudbury Wolves.

Her faith was very important to her, and Alice was a proud member of the United Church of Canada. She sang in church choirs for years and served her church faithfully in many capacities.

Survived by her children Barbara Mayoros of Toronto, Rev Bill Mayoros (Mary) of Sudbury, her stepchildren James Steadman (Rachel) and Robert Steadman, her grandchildren Michael and Katie, her great-grandchild Marielle, her sister-in-law Ann Campbell and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Bill Mayoros, second husband Bob Steadman, life partner Cliff Buchanan, brothers Jack and Ron, sister-in-law Gladys, grandson Christopher, and stepdaughter Joan.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Donations in her memory can be made to St Peter’s United Church or the charity of your choice. Memorial Service in the R.J. Chapel at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 2pm. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Park Lawn Cemetery.
