SUNSTRUM, Rev Mr Donald Michael - Rev. Mr. Donald Michael of Espanola, passed away at the Sudbury Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in his 81st year. Born April 16, 1930, Don was the beloved husband of the late Vange (nee Landry). Loving father of Susan Punch (husband Jim) of Elliot Lake, Donna Punch (late husband Michael) of Toronto, Eric (wife Cynthia) of Navan, Ont., Sheila Miron (husband Paul) of Orangeville and Jane Hale (husband Brad) of Sudbury. Will be sadly missed by 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Margaret Champagne of Espanola and the late Dan, Andy, Jim, and Kathleen. Donald was ordained a deacon May 19, 1989 at Christ the King Church in Sudbury. He dedicated many years to the Catholic Ministries Program and Good Shepherd Parish. Don has been a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3422 since 1959 and a 4th degree Knight since 1964. He was past Grand Knight and past District Deputy. He served the residents of Espanola as a Catholic school board trustee for more than 40 years. He was manager of the former Espanola Hydro and served as a director at Espanola Regional Hydro for the past ten years. Resting at the BOURCIER FUNERAL HOME, Espanola on Friday January28, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday January 29, 2011 at 11am at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Espanola with Fr. Gilles Grandmont officiating. Cremation to follow with interment of ashes in the Espanola Cemetery. If so desired, donations to St. Jude Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
